Farelogix Provides Distribution Model to Optimize Use of Preferred Booking Sources
Farelogix FLX Platform Enables TMCs to Easily Embrace New Distribution Models Mandated by Travel Suppliers While Enforcing Contractual Commitments to a GD
July 17, 2006
CHICAGO NBTA 2006 International Convention and Exposition Farelogix today announced that its alternative distribution solution enables Travel Management Companies (TMC) to embrace new distribution models being introduced by travel suppliers. The Farelogix FLX™ Platform supports the distribution models created and supported by the airlines by enabling TMCs to effectively control the sourcing for each supplier's inventory through preferred booking sources, while maintaining contractual commitments to the various Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and direct supplier relationships.
Farelogix offers a highly flexible system that enables TMCs to source transactions at an individual itinerary level through the GDS or direct connection that provides the best economics. The platform provides an agency with the tools needed to comply with the evolving channel fragmentation. The FLX platform enables an agency to source travel content against an infinite number of flexible rules-based criteria, such as: lowest cost to the supplier (competitive booking source); best economics to the agency (segment incentives); and best content source according to supplier (i.e. Web site). These rules are established in the Farelogix Distribution Manager (DM) and can be managed at the level of agency location, customer, city pair and any other combination. This integrated solution enables a TMC to monitor and manage contractual commitments made to customers, GDS, and suppliers. For example, rules can be set to ensure the appropriate GDS bookings are met, or a minimum number of bookings per month are made via a particular source of content.
As travel suppliers put in place their new distribution strategies, TMCs must find new ways to control the sourcing of travel content, take advantage of gain sharing and comply with preferred booking source initiatives, said Jim Davidson, president and CEO of Farelogix. Farelogix provides a versatile solution that meets the complex and evolving distribution requirements of the travel industry, and delivers the time and cost efficiencies that both agencies and corporations require.
TMCs also benefit from the Farelogix Master Itinerary (MI), which maintains the integrity of travel data from all sources in a Super PNR to ensure the agency always has the latest information at their fingertips in real time. Farelogix is also the only company that enables all elements of the total PNR to be easily integrated and synchronized, regardless of whether the booking source is a GDS, supplier direct connect, or private and Internet fare source, said Davidson.
Farelogix will be in Hall D/Booth #1132 at the NBTA International Convention taking place in Chicago from July 16 - 19. Company representatives will be on site to answer any questions that travel agencies have about how best to embrace the new fee structures being mandated by travel suppliers. David Cerino, Chief Marketing and Product Officer at Farelogix, will be participating in NBTA seminar track TT4, which focuses on content distribution and takes place on July 18th from 8:30am - 9:45am.
