Full Transparency

The call for full transparency across the travel supply chain has long been a priority for Farelogix, both in its customer business models as well as public participation in the industry. Even as far back as 2007, in Jim Davidson’s Keynote presentation ‘Are You Ready for a $2 Transaction,” presented at The Beat Live, Farelogix has advocated for improved collaboration, innovation and transparency across all parts of the travel supply chain. Without business model transparency, the entire travel industry suffers due to stifled innovation and an overdependence on negotiation.

Most recently, industry debate regarding transparency has focused on the matters of airline fees and optional services. Like many of our industry colleagues, Farelogix fully supports the requirement for disclosure and pricing transparency by the airlines. However, contrary to what some industry pundits would say, Farelogix argues that the capability for such transparency does in fact exist today for both airline direct and indirect (travel agency) channels.

We invite you to read Farelogix comments that were submitted to the Department of Transportation in response to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on ‘Enhancing Airline Passenger Protections’. In our response, we have included several recommendations that we believe will strengthen the goals of transparency and pricing disclosure without limiting innovation and product differentiation that the travel industry so desperately needs.
