About Farelogix

Founded in 1998, Farelogix Inc. has emerged as a leading provider of distribution technology and services for the travel industry. The company has headquarters in Miami, Florida, a technical implementation office in Toronto, Ontario and has its largest shareholder, Sandler Capital Management out of New York.  Farelogix fosters an intense passion for innovation and a Frictionless, Fun, and Frugal corporate culture.

The Farelogix business model focuses on the delivery of solutions that lower the unit cost of distribution for both Travel Sellers and Travel Suppliers

  • For Travel Sellers (Travel Management Companies - TMC’s), Farelogix offers the FLX™ Platform, which provides travel content sourcing management, normalization, and transactional business rules integration.  Farelogix seamlessly accesses content from virtually any travel data source and gives customers full control over what rules are applied and how travel data is presented at the agent point-of-sale. TMC’s use the Farelogix FLX Platform to simultaneously increase agent productivity and improve their end-customer value proposition.
  • For Travel Suppliers, (airlines and others), Farelogix provides a platform and functionality for direct distribution (non-GDS) channel control and optimization, including the capability for custom content delivery and merchandising. The FLX Platform for airlines offers functionality comparable to that of legacy GDS systems, plus additional value added features, customizable to individual airlines, at a price point that averages 75% less than GDS distribution costs.

Farelogix is a strong advocate for increased innovation and business model transparency across the travel supply chain.  In addition to its proprietary software solutions, the company has introduced Project Hawkeye, the industry’s first open source Point-of-Sale reservations application, available for free public download and usage.

Customers

The application of Farelogix technology is widespread among disparate customer groups whose needs are met by the FLX Platform. Key customer groups include: Travel Suppliers, Travel Sellers (TMC’s and online booking engines), and Corporate Travel Managers (Corporations).

The Farelogix customer base includes some of the largest and most powerful travel management companies (TMC’s) in the world. The Farelogix global footprint has expanded significantly in the past two years, with solutions in production across six continents and over 50 countries.

The Market

Although the Internet and mobile technology have radically changed the way consumers and corporations shop for and purchase travel, a disproportionate number of transactions are still controlled by legacy distribution providers. These legacy systems are often characterized by technology and business models that are limited in their capability to quickly innovate and respond to changing industry requirements.  In contrast, travel suppliers are forging ahead with new product offerings (e.g. ‘unbundled selling), lower-cost distribution models, and new value-based customer relationships. As a result, the gap between legacy solutions and market requirements is widening, and the momentum for new, more innovative alternate distribution platforms is on the rise.

In comparison to the days immediately following GDS deregulation in 2004, today’s travel industry has matured in its understanding of and demand for low-cost, high-efficiency distribution. Supplier content differentiation and channel preferencing are no longer hypothetical possibilities; they are very real, fundamental components of modern supplier-buyer relationships.  Virtually all major travel management companies recognize that it is no longer realistic to rely upon a single source (e.g. a GDS) as the sole supplier of all travel information. In parallel with these developments, thought leaders across the industry are demanding increased transparency and innovation in the supply chain.

These changes in distribution thinking and action bring new levels of opportunities for technology companies that can effectively source and manage content from multiple sources, enhancing the shopping and booking process for travel agencies, corporate travel departments, and end consumers. Farelogix is among the key players in this technology market, which has been recognized by the travel industry as having the ability to deliver on the promise of high-value distribution and content optimization, at a lower cost.

About the FLX Platform

The FLX Platform consists of a series of proven software components that collectively allow for optimized travel sourcing and distribution management.

Supplier Direct Connections
Farelogix supplier connections (‘direct connects’) enable users to make and manage ‘direct’ bookings and reservations directly out of the Supplier Reservation System without any third-party intervention, and at significantly reduced cost to the supplier. Connectivity is via EDIFACT, XML, or other proprietary connectivity solutions as per supplier preference. This complementary distribution alternative offers suppliers more features, functions and benefits than legacy systems, including sophisticated product merchandizing (FLX FMS2) and ticketing/EMD (E-FLX™) capabilities, at a fraction of the cost.

TMC Middleware for Multi-content Sourcing & Optimization
The FLX Platform enables TMC’s to simultaneously access and normalize travel content from any number of available industry sources, including but not limited to Farelogix Supplier Direct Connections,  GDS systems, private fares databases and web content.  All content is normalized and standardized, simplifying the process of dynamic multi-source management. A robust server-side business rules engine (FLX DM™),  master itinerary (SuperPNR) database (FLX MI™), and independent pricing and private fare solutions (FLX VFS™ and FMS™) together provide a highly efficient and powerful solution. A number of ancillary service modules (including reporting-FLX BI; and back office integration-MIR-FLX™), are also bundled and included with the platform.
Point of sale options
Users of the FLX Platform have full control over what point of sale (GUI) “sits on top” of the FLX Platform. Regardless of what point of sale is used, the underlying multi-sourcing and user-defined rules are consistently applied, thus providing a single integration point at the desktop.

The Farelogix FLX Platform is already fully integrated to various off-the-shelf travel reservations (point of sale) applications, including FLX Project Hawkeye™ (open source system available for free source code download), and FLX Commando™ (a patent pending cryptic-command based reservations tool).  Farelogix also provides a web services API that enables easy integration of the FLX Platform with any third party or proprietary point-of-sale application, corporate booking tool or consumer website.
